Khartoum 22/04/2018 – The Minister of Finance Abdul-Rahman Dirar called on the international community to lift the economic sanctions imposed on Sudan by lifting its name from the list of countries which sponsors terrorism. He seeks to address all foreign debts and the negative effects of economic sanctions on Sudanese citizens.
The Sudanese official stressed during his meeting on Sunday with the Independent Expert on Human Rights, Aristide Nononsi, the continued repercussions of negative sanctions on citizens, despite the lifting of the sanctions, the impact on the major sectors, most importantly the health, education, production and infrastructure sectors, which includes the railway and aviation. The effects of the economic sanctions on food, medicine and education continue to be felt.
In turn, Nononsi promised to provide technical assistance, capacity-building and make recommendations to further improve the human rights situation in Sudan, and provide the necessary assistance to fully lift the sanctions on Sudan, while supporting efforts to relieve its debts.
