The Council of Ministers’ decision to restrict the lifting of immunity for a period not exceeding 30 days

Khartoum 19/04/2018 – The Sudanese Council of Ministers decided to restrict the lifting of immunity for a period not exceeding 30 days, as decided by the trial of arms bearers before military courts.

The Council authorized in a regular meeting on Thursday to draft law amendments, presented by Judge Idris Ibrahim Jamil, Minister of Justice. The spokesman for the Council of Ministers Omar Mohammed Saleh said in a press statement that after reviewing the recommendations of the governance, social and cultural development sectors, and after extensive trading on lifting immunities and prosecution of rebel arms bearers, that the Council of Ministers decided to restrict the period of lifting immunity for a period not exceeding 30 days from the date of request for waiver of immunity. Then with regards to the trial of arms bearers who received regular training, and fought against the state, the Council of Ministers decided to try them before military courts, and directing the Ministry of Justice to define the armament campaign by law.
